The art work was copied on to a page and sent to the colorist.Who uses Markers, inks or Dyes to color the page. The pages are sometimes marked with "color codes" that the printers uses to color the final comic. The art is the size of the final comics, but they are on paper that is 8 1/2 by 11. Over the years the computer coloring process have taken over the need for color guides.
Colorist now color the page directly on the computer. With guides no longer created this have made the pages very collectible and sought after, there are only 1 of these per page! A s with most production art the pages goes though so many hands for approval there are markers, pencil or pen marks on it as well as notes.
